According to the CUET UG 2026 data, 3 central universities list a music degree: the Central University of Tamil Nadu (CUTN), RGU and Sikkim University. The papers asked are Performing Arts, English and the General Aptitude Test, with others appearing under RGU's open list.
The rules differ. CUTN asks for English or Tamil plus the General Aptitude Test. Sikkim University asks for the Performing Arts paper (Music General, covering Hindustani classical vocal, sitar, flute and tabla) and holds a practical or viva test after the entrance test. RGU lists a Bachelor of Music and accepts any one of its 26 domain papers.
Class 12 rules are fairly open. CUTN asks for 50% (45% for reserved categories). Sikkim University asks for a pass with 40% in any discipline. RGU asks for a Class 12 pass.
