BTech is a four-year engineering degree. You study Mathematics, Physics and core engineering subjects first, then specialise in a branch such as Computer Science, Electrical or Civil Engineering.
For CUET UG 2026, 17 central universities list BTech programmes, 44 in all. The papers asked most often are Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, followed by Computer Science, English and Hindi. The usual pattern is Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Some universities change it. CUAP and Sammakka Sarakka Central Tribal University ask for the Computer Science / Informatics Practices paper for their computer science courses. DU's BTech asks for a language, Mathematics and the General Aptitude Test. BBAU asks for one language paper plus any three of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Computer Science.
Watch for the extras. CUK fills half its seats from JEE Main 2026 and half from CUET UG 2026. BBAU and HNBGU also list lateral-entry BTech programmes, for students joining after an earlier qualification. If you plan to apply to several universities, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics covers most of them.

Frequently asked questions
▸Which CUET subjects are needed for BTech?
Most BTech programmes ask for Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. Some accept Computer Science or Informatics Practices instead of one of them, and a few add a language paper such as English.
▸Is Mathematics compulsory for BTech through CUET?
In most listed programmes, yes. Mathematics is the paper asked most often. The exceptions are some computer science courses, for example the ones at CUAP and Sammakka Sarakka Central Tribal University, which ask for the Computer Science / Informatics Practices paper.
▸Which central universities offer BTech through CUET?
17 central universities list BTech programmes for CUET UG 2026, including BBAU, BHU, CUJ, CUK, CURAJ, CUTN, Pondicherry University and DU.
▸Do I also need JEE Main for BTech at a central university?
Not usually. CUK is one example where half the seats are filled on JEE Main 2026 and half on CUET UG 2026. Check each programme's notes for its own rule.
