Shastri is a traditional Sanskrit degree, equivalent to a BA at SLBSNSU. Advaita Vedanta is a school of Indian philosophy based on the Upanishads, the Brahma Sutras and the Bhagavad Gita. You study these texts in Sanskrit.

CSU accepts Sanskrit or Knowledge Tradition and Practices of India. NSU asks for any one language paper and any one domain paper, and gives preference to candidates who took the Sanskrit paper.
Eligibility is a Class 12 level exam or an equivalent Sanskrit qualification, such as Prakshastri, Uttar Madhyama or Veda Vibhushan. SLBSNSU asks for 40% marks and a maximum age of 25 years. At NSU the course is taught only in Sanskrit. Tip: the Sanskrit paper works at all three, with a language paper added for NSU.
