Shastri Sankhya Yoga is a Sanskrit-tradition degree. You study the Sankhya and Yoga schools of Indian philosophy through Sanskrit texts. At some universities it is treated as equal to a BA.
According to the CUET UG 2026 data, 3 universities list it: Central Sanskrit University (CSU), National Sanskrit University (NSU) and Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri National Sanskrit University (SLBSNSU). The papers asked are Sanskrit and Knowledge Tradition and Practices of India, with English and Hindi as language options.
The rules differ. CSU asks for a domain paper, either Sanskrit or Knowledge Tradition and Practices of India. NSU asks for any one language paper and any one domain paper, and gives preference to candidates with the Sanskrit paper. SLBSNSU asks for Sanskrit. NSU teaches and evaluates Shastri only in Sanskrit medium.
Class 12 rules also differ. CSU and NSU ask for a pass in a 10+2 level exam, such as Prakshastri or Uttara Madhyama, or an equivalent. SLBSNSU asks for 10+2 from any recognised board with 40% marks and a maximum age of 25 years.
Tip: the Sanskrit paper is the safest choice, as it appears in all three rules.
