BA Chinese is a degree in the Chinese language, literature and culture. You learn to read, write and speak Chinese and study the history and society of China. It leads to translation, teaching, research and work in international organisations.
According to the CUET UG 2026 data, 7 central universities list BA Chinese: AMU, BHU, the Central University of Gujarat (CUG), the Central University of Jharkhand (CUJ), JNU, Tezpur University and EFLU. The papers asked are English, Hindi and the General Aptitude Test.
The usual pattern is a language paper plus the General Aptitude Test. AMU, CUG, JNU and Tezpur University ask for English and the General Aptitude Test. At JNU both are compulsory. Tezpur gives English 80% weight and the General Aptitude Test 20%. BHU accepts English or Hindi, and EFLU accepts any one language paper. CUJ lists only the General Aptitude Test.
Tip: English and the General Aptitude Test keep you eligible for almost all of these. EFLU wants English as a subject in Class 12, and BHU has an age limit of 22 years.

Selection: 80% of BA (Hons) seats are for those who passed 10+2 in 2025 or appear in 2026; 20% are open to all. 10+1 pattern students need first year of a 10+1+3 bachelor's with 45%. OBC non-creamy layer get a 10% relaxation in marks. SC/ST and PwD candidates who have passed the qualifying exam may appear whatever their percentage.

CUET: English (80% weight) plus the General Aptitude Test (20% weight)
