BA English through CUET UG

Offered by 17 central universities · most asked: English, General Test, Hindi

BA English is an undergraduate degree in English language and literature. You read poetry, novels and plays, study how language works, and practise writing. It leads to teaching, writing, media and publishing work, or to an MA in English.

For CUET UG 2026, 17 central universities list BA English. The papers asked most often are English and the General Aptitude Test. The usual pattern is the English paper plus the General Aptitude Test, as at CUJ, GGU, NEHU and EFLU. Some universities ask for English alone, such as CU Kashmir, MZU and Nagaland University. CUAP, CUK and IGNTU ask only for the General Aptitude Test, and BHU lets you take English or Hindi with it. RGU accepts any one domain paper, and DU asks for English plus three List B subjects.

Eligibility changes too. EFLU, CU Kashmir and Sammakka Sarakka Central Tribal University want English as a Class 12 subject. CU Jammu asks for 65% aggregate. BHU has an age limit of 22 years on 1 July 2026. Tip: take English and the General Aptitude Test. Together they cover most of the universities here.
