BA French is a degree in the French language, literature and culture. You learn to read, write and speak French and study the history and society of French-speaking countries. It leads to translation, teaching, tourism, research and jobs in companies that work with France.
According to the CUET UG 2026 data, 4 central universities list BA French: BHU, JNU, EFLU and the University of Delhi (DU). The papers asked are English, Hindi and the General Aptitude Test.
The usual pattern is a language paper plus the General Aptitude Test. JNU asks for English and the General Aptitude Test, and both are compulsory. BHU accepts English or Hindi. EFLU accepts any one of its 13 language papers. DU uses combinations: one language and three other subjects, or two languages and two other subjects.
Class 12 rules differ. BHU asks for 50% aggregate and an age of not more than 22 years on 1 July 2026. JNU asks for 45%. EFLU asks for 50% with English as one of your subjects.

Selection: 80% of BA (Hons) seats are for those who passed 10+2 in 2025 or appear in 2026; 20% are open to all. 10+1 pattern students need first year of a 10+1+3 bachelor's with 45%. OBC non-creamy layer get a 10% relaxation in marks. SC/ST and PwD candidates who have passed the qualifying exam may appear whatever their percentage.

CUET: Any one language paper (codes 101 to 113, all 13 languages listed) and General Test (501).

Pass in Intermediate/10+2 or equivalent with English as one of the subjects, with 50% marks (General/OBC) or 45% (SC/ST/PwD). Candidates still pursuing the qualifying exam may apply if they pass with the minimum marks by the time of admission.

CUET: One List A language plus three List B subjects, or two List A languages plus two List B subjects.
