BA German is a degree in the German language, literature and culture. You learn to read, write and speak German and study the history and society of German-speaking countries. It leads to translation, teaching, research and jobs in companies that work with Germany.
According to the CUET UG 2026 data, 5 central universities list BA German: BHU, the Central University of Gujarat (CUG), JNU, EFLU and the University of Delhi (DU).
The usual pattern is a language paper plus the General Aptitude Test. CUG and JNU ask for English and the General Aptitude Test, and both are compulsory. BHU accepts English or Hindi with the General Aptitude Test. EFLU accepts any one of the 13 language papers with the General Aptitude Test. DU follows a different format: one language paper with three other subjects, or two languages with two other subjects.
Tip: English and the General Aptitude Test keep you eligible for most of these. Check EFLU, which wants English as a Class 12 subject, and BHU, which has an age limit of 22 years.
